The Finger Lakes National Forest encompas acres ( km2) of Seneca and Schuyler counties, nestled between Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State in the United States of America. Hike the Finger Lakes National Forest or the famous Watkins Glen State Park where you will meander through, around and behind 16 different waterfalls. If horseback riding through the forest suits your fancy we will be happy to schedule rides for you with advance notice.

The Interlaken Trail, a mile marked trail that runs past two ponds and traverses varied terrain, is one of the trails to check out in the Finger Lakes National Forest. Less well-known, but certainly worth your time, is the Hector Land Use Area —it has 25 miles of hiking trails and a handful of camp sites. The main Finger Lakes Trail (FLT) currently runs miles from the New York/Pennsylvania border in Allegheny State Park at its western terminus to its eastern terminus at the junction of the Long Path in the Catskills. The Finger Lakes Trail is the longest continuous hiking trail in New York State. The Finger Lakes Trail System has over miles of marked hiking trails in New York State.

Finger Lakes National Forest — 16, acres mostly on a ridge between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes in western New York — is the only national forest in New York and the second-smallest national forest in the country. Tiny communities like Searsburg, Townsendville, Reynoldsville and Bennettsburg surround FLNF, which is crisscrossed by two-lane roads. A more intermediate level route takes you from our barn through a neighboring horse farm to the Finger Lakes National Forest with dirt roads and winding forest trails. The other route extends beyond the Hilltop View route, leading down into a working cattle farm with lush woods and lake views.
